Physician Coverage 7 Days a Week
Medical problems don’t wait for Monday. At MediLodge, physician coverage is available seven days a week, which means medical decisions, prescription changes, and clinical assessments can happen any day, not just during weekday business hours.
What this means in practice
A physician or qualified medical provider is available to evaluate residents, respond to changes in condition, review lab results, adjust medications, and make treatment decisions every day of the week. If a resident develops a fever on a Saturday, a new symptom on a Sunday, or needs a medication change on a holiday, there’s a physician who can address it rather than deferring to a nurse-only protocol or defaulting to an ER transfer.
Each MediLodge facility also has a Medical Director, a board-certified physician who oversees all clinical care at the facility, conducts regular rounds, and ensures that care standards are maintained.
Why it matters
In facilities without consistent physician coverage, weekends and holidays often mean delays in care decisions, unnecessary ER transfers (because no one on-site has the authority to make a medical call), and gaps in documentation. Seven-day physician coverage reduces all three. The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine advocates for consistent medical oversight in skilled nursing facilities as a standard of quality care.

Physician coverage models may vary slightly by location, so it’s worth asking about the specifics when you tour.
