Orthopedic Recovery Program
The orthopedic recovery program at MediLodge is built for people recovering from bone and joint surgeries, fractures, and musculoskeletal injuries. If you’ve had a hip replacement, knee replacement, shoulder surgery, spinal procedure, or a serious fracture, this program provides the daily therapy and medical support needed to get you moving again safely.
What the program focuses on
Restoring range of motion, rebuilding strength around the surgical site, relearning weight-bearing activities, and getting back to functional independence. That means walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of a car, and managing daily tasks without putting yourself at risk for reinjury. Physical and occupational therapists work together to address both the big movements and the small ones.
Why a facility instead of home
After orthopedic surgery, the first two to four weeks are when the most progress happens, and also when the most risk exists. Pain management needs to be carefully handled. Weight-bearing restrictions need to be followed precisely. Swelling, blood clots, and surgical site infections need to be monitored. Having a clinical team on-site 24/7 reduces the chances of a complication derailing your recovery.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recommends that patients follow structured rehabilitation protocols after joint replacement to optimize outcomes and prevent complications.
How long does recovery take
Most orthopedic rehab stays at MediLodge last two to three weeks. Joint replacement patients often fall on the shorter end. Complex fractures or revision surgeries may need more time. Your therapy team sets milestones and tracks progress at every session.
