Outpatient Therapy

Outpatient Therapy

Outpatient therapy is for people who’ve been discharged from a facility and are living at home but still need professional rehabilitation. You come to a MediLodge location for scheduled therapy sessions (physical, occupational, or speech) and go home the same day.

Who uses it

People who’ve finished an inpatient rehab stay but haven’t fully recovered yet. Someone who had a knee replacement might be strong enough to go home but still needs weekly PT to get back to full function. A stroke survivor might be living at home but still working on speech or fine motor skills a few times a week.

It’s also for people who never had an inpatient stay but still need therapy. Maybe you’ve been managing a chronic condition at home and your doctor recommends PT to address pain or mobility issues. Maybe you had an outpatient surgery and need guided rehab afterward.

What to expect

Sessions are scheduled at times that work for you and typically last 30 to 60 minutes. You work one-on-one with a licensed therapist who develops a plan based on your goals. Progress is tracked, and the frequency of visits decreases as you improve.

The advantage of outpatient therapy at MediLodge is access to the same clinical team and equipment used in inpatient rehab. If you did your initial recovery at a MediLodge facility, you may even work with the same therapists who already know your history.

Paying for outpatient therapy

Medicare Part B covers outpatient therapy services with a doctor’s order. You’ll typically pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after meeting your annual deductible. Most private insurance and Medicare Advantage plans also cover outpatient rehab. Check with your insurer for specifics.
